Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid year, managing just a single victory at the big events and undergoing a setback at the New York tournament.

Medvedev's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested three-set win over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial title since the Rome competition and maiden on a hard court after that period of that year.

Success also indicates Medvedev has achieved 21 titles at 21 various competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my two daughters simultaneously, so to win a championship is really nice," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and recurring emotional displays on the tennis court had caused some to doubt if his ability to play at the highest level was over.

Yet the athlete has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to come to the net and compete positively, backed up by an better serving game.

The champion recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging Moutet, winning 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged breaks in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour title, took control to force a third set.

He defended 4 early chances in a close third set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned the win with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
